چکیده

This study evaluates the macrostructure, microstructure, hardness, and tensile strength in dissimilar metal welding applied to bus body construction. The process involved joining hollow stainless steel galvanized at dimensions of 80 x 40 3.2 mm through Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW). current was varied 90, 100, 110 A while ER70S-6 electrodes with diameters 0.8 1.0 were used. results showed that electrode diameter affect capping area, penetration depth, hardness. Moreover, formation widmasatten ferrite phase increased coarse grain boundaries weld zone detected. It also observed an increase which indicates increment heat reduced rate solidification cooling. average for all samples investigated found be lower than value base metal. Therefore, further research is recommended improve strength.

Evaluation of microstructure and mechanical properties of friction stir welded copper / 316L stainless steel dissimilar metals

In the present research, friction stir welding (FSW) process was used for butt joining of pure copper plate to 316L stainless steel plate. Mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics of the joint were evaluated by microhardness and tensile tests as well as optical and scanning electron microscope (SEM). It was found that microstructure of the weld nugget (WN) has fine grains where...
